Island Peak (6189m) is the most climbed peak in the Everest region of Nepal. It is also called the Imja Tse, which is located on the top of Chhukung Glacier between Ama Dablam and Lhotse Himayan Peaks. A Mountaineer team of Erix Shipton named the peak as Island Peak in 1952 AD being impressed by its location, middle in the Chhukung valley. Island Peak Climbing is popular for the Mountaineers who are going to summit the high Mountains as a practice. It fulfills the climbing ethos and adventure dream in Peak Climbing Holiday in Nepal.
Although the climbing to the Island Peak is relatively less technical than other peaks in the Everest (Khumbu) region, it is adventurous and challenging. It is listed as the trekking peak by the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) and requires special climbing permit. The climbing equipments as crampons on boots, climbing ropes, ice axe, harness, carabineers and Descending devices are needed for the summit and climbers should have appropriate knowledge about it and its use, which you can get from our peak climbing guides and team or in the orientation day before leaving for the climbing trip. It begins from Lukla and heads to the Everest Base Camp and Kalapatthar and descend to Chhukung. It takes three days climbing trips and back to Lukla.
Island Peak climbing Package includes the various attractions of Sherpa culture, customs, rituals, lifestyles and hospitality. During the trip you can explore the Monasteries and Chhortens. Of course the Everest Himalayan views are spectacular. The flora and fauna of the Sagarmatha National Park are diverse. Praznik Travels and Treks organizes Island Peak Climbing trips with experienced guides and climbing equipments for your successful trip.
